Generic Pearls
Working on the formal aspect of the pearl, I gave my personal interpretation to the traditional pearl necklace, revising its shape in different ways, experimenting various materials and looking for a large diversity concerning the techniques and the final perception.
I played on the diversity of the sensations of the pieces who have a common theme but who are, each of them, handled in a different way. Each of the necklaces are part of the same gender: the pearl necklace.
To go beyond the common pearl necklace -simple, classical and wearable- that we wear without questioning ourselves, I wanted to play with some of my pieces and hide this usual aspect and this first function of the necklace. To discover some of the necklaces, we have to unfold, to unpack them first. It is a playful research that reminds of the search and the surprise of the pearl researcher who first has to catch the oyster and then to open it, hoping to find the desired object!
